NEWS: Jeffrey Dean Morgan returns Good news for "Grey's Anatomy" viewers: Fan favorite Denny Duquette, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, is returning to ABC's medical drama. A rep for the show confirmed Morgan's guest appearance but declined to divulge further details. Denny first appeared in the show's second season as Izzie's (Katherine Heigl) patient, who was in the hospital because of a heart condition. The pair became engaged, but Denny died at the end of the season. His character did return in the third season in a vision seen by a near-death Meredith (Ellen Pompeo). Latest on Katherine Heigl Just wrapped the exec session here at TCA with ABC boss Steve McPherson, and he shared a little news about that Shonda-verse we all love so much. Izzie Lives! For Now! According to McPherson, Katherine Heigl is still very much in the mix over at Grey's Anatomy, and Izzie won't be offed anytime soon. In fact, he promised, "She is absolutely staying with the show. She has an unbelievable storyline for her this year, which is really central to everything that is going to go on this season. Shonda is really excited about that; she's the one who actually crafted that." OK, I don't know about you, but I really want said storyline to involve the daughter Izzie gave up for adoption. And Alex. Controversy, Schmontroversy: McPherson tried to brush the recent Heiglian kerfuffles under the carpet, and said, "She is a fantastically talented actress. I think it's unfortunate when there's any kind of turmoil on the show. There are so many people who work so unbelievably hard to make that show; we have the No. 1 show in the country. I think it's a beautifully written, beautifully acted, beautifully produced...Everyone from the grips to the writers to the E.P.s, I think deserves an enormous amount of credit." And that, right there, is why they pay him the big bucks... Kevin McKidd in talks to join the show: Could another hot doc be scrubbing in at Seattle Grace next season? Kevin McKidd, the Scottish actor who headlined last season's time-traveling drama Journeyman, is in serious talks to join the cast. He'd play an M.D. who comes to the hospital after a stint in Iraq. It's expected to be a long story arc for McKidd, who also played the soldier Lucius Vorenus in HBO's regrettably short-lived Rome. Triangle Not Over So Soon? Rose is no shrinking violet when it comes to getting McDumped by McDreamy. Given the cozy, candle-burning climax of Grey's Anatomy's season finale, it's no big surprise that Lauren Stamile's run as Derek's squeeze may be nearing its end. But the typically oh-so-nice nurse won't be scrubbed out quietly. Sources tell me exclusively that when Rose is excised from the superstar surgeon's love life, though she plays it cool with Mer, she is far from Zen about the whole thing with the boyfriend. "I'd count on at least one emotional outburst," previews a setsider. "Rose is not her usual composed self with Derek."
