I've been singing since the age of 4. I went with my sister to a choir rehearsal one night just cuz I didn't want to go with mom to the store and have been singing ever since... Joined the gradeschool choir as soon as I was old enough(3rd grade). It was kind of a joke in gradeschool cuz we didn't actually do anything musical except sing along with the record player but then highschool came along and I did pretty much everything I could. Vocally, I was in Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers, and Show Choir all 4 years and senior year sat down with the director and helped pick people to start up a Jazz Choir which since has become another awesome Ensemble at Mendota High School. Accomplishments throughout that time would pretty much just be the IMEA things... District Concert Choir: Soph. year 9th chair Tenor II, Junior year 3rd chair, and Senoir year 2nd chair... District Jazz Choir: Soph 9th chair so I didn't get to go... missed 8th by 2 points though so I was close, Junior year 2nd Chair and then 1st Chair Senior year. Then of course rather than being smart and going to All-State for Jazz I decided to do All-State Honor's Choir again senior year. But I still wish I would have done Jazz that year cuz they were amazing! After highschool, went to Illinois State University where I was a Voice Performance Major. I studied privately with John Koch and was a member of the Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers my freshman and sophomore years. Bigger Solos I had while there included singing the Solo/Soli descant part in Betelehemu with 3 combined choirs and the Orchestra for the christmas concert my sophomore year, and then the Counter Tenor Solo Part in the Second Movement of Leonard Bernstein's "Chichester Psalms" earlier that same semester. Instrumentally, I started playing the sax in 4th Grade and since, have come to learn the trumpet, some piano, guitar, french horn and clarinet. My next goal is to become stronger on the French Horn and learn the oboe. Instrumental groups I was involved in at MHS consist of Jazz, Concert, Marching(Drum Major 2-4) and Pep Bands. Also a member of "The Saximals" saxophone quartet... we got to do some fun things in that group... Allerton Wind Symposium at the U of I (they only except 3 quartets out of all the applications they recieve annually). We also performed for the Statewide Kiwani's Convention in Bloomington where we met Brian Setzer so that was kinda neat. The only honor band I chose to participate in during highschool was the Augustana Honor Band, which includes instrumentalists from 4 different states. I sat 2nd chair in this group. After HS I studied privately with James Boitos at ISU and was a member of the Symphonic Bands, Symphonic Winds, Pep Band, and The Big Red Marching Machine. Now that i've been out of school I sing mostly for wedding ceremonies, funerals, and community events. Every once in a while you might catch me in the pit band for my highschool stage productions or up in the bleachers on the trumpet for pep band. Otherwise, I just work so that I can hopefully get my bills paid off and can go back and finish out my degree. So that's me in a "Musical Nutshell" Any questions... feel free to ask

A newer video of my aquarium... I lost the male gold stripe clownfish shortly after the last video, but there's another in there now, not a gold stripe though. And, I also decided to take off the old background and paint the back navy blue instead. So now, for details... -100 lbs. White Fiji...

This is a video of me singing Erlkonig by Schubert. This recording was just a rehearsal/audion video for a local show I'm singing in June of '08. I hadn't actually sung this piece in a few years up to this point though... We only looked at it once before recording... Piano - Mary Schallhorn
