THE NEW LOOK IS HARDER, DARKER AND CREEPY. WITH BRAND NEW ADDED ANIMATED IMAGERY. WHAT INSPIRED THE PAGE AND WHY? dionarch: I always had the About me page since I joined Ebay back in November 2005. I have always been interested and supported animal welfare. It really took off in October 2007 when I returned from holiday, they kept playing Gwen Stefani in the clubs there and thats where I developed the Alice in Wonderland theme from the video directed by Francis Lawrence 'What You Waiting For'. Paul Boyd's 1994's Confide In Me video for Kylie Minogue set the scene on the page and I have recently added an updated display as before once more. The old page keeps creeping back! The video 'Express Yourself' directed by David Fincher was also a hudge influence. I still shudder when I see the photo of the murdered gorillas, I remember sitting on a bus late last year shopping for my trip away and opening The Metro pager and seeing that disturbing image, I was so taken back I had tears in my eyes. It had to be used for the new About Me page again. The page with all the text and images had to be kept kind of fun with a cartoon like feel so to remain stable and childproof. I didnt't want teen kid and Mum being terrified with images of vivisection., there were links so the issues could be explored in more detail............I AM RESPONSIBLE. The title to the page is from a David Bowie record 'As The World Falls Down' from the film Labyrinth. I felt the title fitted. pirate7c: Q2. WHY YOUR CONCERN FOR THE ENVIROMENT AND ANIMAL WELFARE ISSUES? dionarch: Why not. People just don't think sometimes. It's not because they don't care, they simply are not aware................I'm not stating be vegetarian , as humans we eat meat, I don't have a problem with that, just have a conscious how and where those animals were bred. My love for animals goes back to my childhood. Recently I watched an undercover police report programme on the television channel Bravo about a circus familly and how a bloke constantly struck an elephant with a metal rod. "I wake from my sleep haunted by that image." I remember having a garden full of rabbits and ginea pigs. I would return home from school with about seven hutches to clean and maintain. In them days they were made from old kitchen cuboards! (laughs). My parents split very early in my life and I had a younger brother to look after so my father looked on the rabbit keeping as part of my responsibility................. Having chemotherapy, you realise what really matters in life, you appreciate everything then that soon wears off but doors seem to be opened for you with a straight forward direction with no distraction like you never had before. (I'm very fit now, I swim 50 lengths 6 days a week compulsively and go to the gym.) I had a rabbit Snowy (no surprise by the name lol) for 13 years, yes honestly - my father was very protective!............. I guess some positve things you are brought up with in your childhood remain with you..............I'm not saying people should go back to living in mud huts with no human progress I just want people to see that we all can be economical with minimum global impact. If you have something to say then say it. The choice is your own to take notice and care............I survived cancer twice I must be here for a reason?!.................. pirate7c: Q3.
