the downside to genetic counseling... i'll try and explain here because i stumbled on my thoughts in the video but basically.. If we start taking out harmful genes such as PKE, Downs, Huntington, etc. We could be also getting rid of other genes or traits associated with those disorders. This is getting rid of diversity. Now for instance something happens in the course of human evolution that the PKE gene is favorable or needed for people to survive forwhatever reason. If we've genetically altered everyone to never have PKE then after this "huge change/event" everyone will die out. Diversity is the key to evolution, it's how we got here and it's how we'll continue to evolve.
