In conjunction with National Art Gallery's (NAG) Golden Jubilee celebration, about 50 local children aged between 9 to 12 years were selected to create a masterpiece depict themed 'Underwater lives in Mabul Island'. In doing so, the children succeeded in creating the first Guinness Book of Records, World Longest Children's Underwater Painting (Skin Dive). The objective of this programme is to encourage children to be creative in the visual arts using different style and techniques. Moreover this event also indirectly creates awareness amongst the school children on the importance of conserving our marine treasures such as coral reefs. The children from Sekolah Kebangsaan Pulal Mabul, Sempoerna, Sabah were encouraged to explore and express their creativity by using non toxic oil pastel colours. Among the underwater life illustrated by these talented children were fishes, corals and seaweeds. The canvas is 10.7m in length and 0.75m in width. This event was done in collaboration with Asia Events Exsic and Borneo Dive Resorts.
