Mastery of the senses leads to the realisation of the "utter non-existence of all the objects of perception." So it's not simply about being a good boy or girl! It is the attention that needs to be mastered. Where do we allow it to be directed to? Mind conjures up notions of the body. The sea of samsara is an ocean of notions! The notion of the perception of objects is an illness. Notions of perception are a big con! The mind accommodates the infinite variety of experiencing that is continually happening. The story of the sage Sukra, son of Bhrgu. Sukra is performing his duties when he sees a celestial nymph passing overhead. They become infatuated with each other. Sukra pursues her in his mind. He reaches heaven and sees its inhabitants. Indra invites Sukra to remain in heaven for a long time and Sukra acquiesces. Text: http://www.venkatesaya.com/241_vasistha01/index.vasistha01.php?m=5&d=26
