The original "Over the Sea to Skye" route before the railway and ferry arrived at Kyle of Lochalsh. This narrowest of gaps between Skye and the mainland, was witness to hundreds of cattle, every year, swimming the treacherous waters on their way to the Lowland cattle markets.
